When children are sent off to school each day, we expect them to be exposed to new ideas and friendships, not pollution.

In a typical school year, over 10,000 privately-owned buses in NYC transport nearly 150,000 children to and from school every day, the majority of whom are students with disabilities. When they step onto diesel school buses, we’re exposing them to harmful pollution.

OUR GOALS

Our Coalition’s goal is to use advocacy to liaison a successful implementation of Intro 455-A.

Now that an all electric school bus fleet by 2035 is law, we will work to ensure environmental justice communities are prioritized, that New York adopts the best value contracting to ensure that the city can provide the highest-quality possible service to its children and create equitable family-supporting jobs in the manufacture and operation of school buses, and support school bus contracting transitions. Stay tuned for our updated agenda, to be released November 2021!
